Moonshine & Vertex Operator Algebras

Moonshine is the surprising thread connecting the symmetries of the largest sporadic finite simple groups to the modular functions of number theory - a connection made precise by the vertex operator algebras of conformal field theory. This research program at The Pasayten Institute studies these moonshine phenomena and the algebraic structures that explain them.

More coming soon. This page will grow to host the program's papers, plain-language explainers, and talks.
